Nationals Without Household Registration (NWOHR): Investment/Employment/Dependent Residence & Taiwan University Graudates Residence
A national without household registration (NWOHR) of Taiwan is a person who possesses Taiwan nationality but have never obtained a household registration in Taiwan before. Normally NWOHR status is attained by:
1.
Taiwan citizen's (with household registration) children born overseas
2.
NWOHR's children (one of or both parents were NWOHR when the child was born)
3.
Foreigners that have renounced the passport of their original country and applied for naturalization as Taiwanese citizen
4.
Hong Kong and Macao citizens, and overseas Chinese with Taiwan's "overseas compatriot identity certificate"
There are several ways for NWOHR to apply for Taiwan's residence:
1.
Start and run a company in Taiwan with NT$1,000,000
2.
Employed by a company in Taiwan
3.
Appy for dependent resident of immediate family members, siblings or parents-in-law (Descendants born overseas, of Taiwan citizens with household registration can apply for naturalization directly)
4.
Graduated from a university in Taiwan, and went back to work in the original place of residence for 2 years
Taking path 1 to 4 described above, upon staying in Taiwan for 1 year (during which staying in Taiwan over 335 days), or 2 consecutive years (staying in Taiwan over 270 days each year), or 5 consecutive years (staying in Taiwan over 183 days each year), NWOHR can apply for naturalization.
