Chang Gung Health And Culture Village
Chang Gung Health And Culture Village is the largest residental community for the elderly in Taiwan.
Start operating in 2005, it is developed by Formosa Plastics Group, with reference to the design and facilities of similar amenities in developed countries.
Based on the Chinese notion of "taking care of the elderly as our own relatives" and combining regimen and culture, it is differentiated from other elderly homes.
The village is located at Guishan Township in Taoyuan County, occupying 34 hectares, half of it being green area, hospital, amenity complex, park, etc, with a maximum capacity of 4,000 people.
The basic entrance requirement is Taiwan citizenship, or foreigners with residence certicate.
Characteristics
Apart from vast coverage of area, another characteristic of Chang Gung Health And Culture Village is the variety of leisure activities, and the "silver thread academy".
Residents can learn Tai Chi, play Mahjong, sing, and take part in art pottery or calligraphy. There are even independent working rooms for stock exchange online.
The village is backed by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Lingkou (both belong to Formosa Plastics Group), providing complete health care and emergency service.
Medical care is especially important to the elderly. The village has personnel 7x24 on duty. In case elderly feel sick in mid night, the staff will escort him/her to the hospital.
The village will also propose to the elderly health care plans, according to the physical conditions of the elderly, such as blood pressure, blood sugar level and other measured values.
The plan includes yearly body check and preventive injection like flu vaccination.
Further, nutritionists will formulate healthy organic diets for the elderly. The pioneering "red, green, yellow" nutritional indicators help the elderly to take balanced diet and necessary exercise.
Apart from taking care of physical health and living, the village also helps elderly on spiritual needs, reinforcing the value of life, and assist them to live indepenently with dignity.
Fees (for reference only): Single room, starting at HK$5,000~6,000/month. Rooms for couple, additional HK$1,300/month. Deposit HK$66,000 (single) or HK$80,000 (couple), to be refunded without interest upon contract expiry.
